MY2CENTZ is a real stage, a platform to share and exchange dialogue with millions of people. When I say millions of people, I mean the 2.3 million men, women and children currently incarcerated in U.S. prisons and the 5 million Americans either on probation, parole and in some circumstances both. I, personally, was once on parole and probation at the same time. MY2CENTZ is for everyone who loves freedom and cares for the forgotten prisoners of the USA.
I feel responsible, as well as cautious for the ideas I choose to share. Politically, I will not say I am a conservative or a liberal. I feel more like I exist somewhere in between. I want to preserve and conserve certain aspects of The U.S. constitution that says ‘all men are created equal’ and free. But I want to focus my attention here on the 13th, 14th, 15th Amendments. The 13th Amendment abolished slavery and made it illegal in all parts of the United States, except in cases where someone has been convicted of a crime. The 14th Amendment allowed for citizenship and equal protection to anyone born in the United States, except Native Americans. And the15th Amendment gave black men in the United States the right to vote, regardless of their class.
If slavery was abolished, how can we pretend not to see that prisoners are treated like slaves? That punishment for a crime includes the right for private corporations and government to use prisoners as cheap, slave labor. Do we have equal protection under the law? And if the 15th Amendment, passed in 1870, gave black men the right to vote, why did we need to pass Voting Right Act in 1965?
Conservatives want to keep the Constitution as it is, with no change, meaning allowing the 3 dead badges of slavery to stay intact and to continue to subjugate, not only blacks and Latinos but poor whites and Arabs.
I want to change the adversarial judicial system that is imprisoning our people for profit. I want to see more change in prison reform so young adults can still have an opportunity to live out their most productive years in freedom. I want to change the way those in authority are "educated" so they become our protectors and that justice is truly being served. I want to change how our children are being educated, no matter what neighborhood they live in.
All throughout the day I hear the pleas from people who have no voice, well, I will be a voice for them. MY2CENTZ is about change, not chump change. . #MY2CENTZ
