My experience with the Criminal Justice System began in 1998. It was four years into the Violent Crime Act Bill, so, police were EVERY WHERE all the time, right up in your face. The police presence wasn't stopping the killing and drug dealing though. There were a thousand shorties ready to take the place of homies who caught cases.
I remember I gave an older man a lighter, he could've been a crackhead, but how could I know? I wasn't hustling yet. As soon as I gave the older man the lighter, Chicago PD rolled up snatched my lil’ ass and charged me with delivery of a ‘control substance.’ So, my experience with Criminal Justice System began when I was very young, and in the worst possible way.
I can see now that those cops shouldn't be the reason to claim the entire Criminal Justice System is broken. Since being incarcerated, the Criminal Justice System has worked in my favor several times. But we don’t talk about the breaks and time reductions we get off, only the things that don't work out in our favor. Well, that's going to change.
Our Elected officials are charged to protect everyone, even if some of the laws are considered excessive, but that's what separates us from many countries. We are a nation governed by the rule of law, and some of those laws have offered second chances.
Kamala Harris in not personally in charge of giving ex-cons the opportunity to come home and do the right thing. The law does that. I saw many cons released on the First Step Act and return back to this prison. It's not the politician’s fault that convicts reoffend. If laws change and sentences are disproportionate, then a judge has to take a second look at that sentence and correct it. I believe Kamala is the best choice in this upcoming election because myself and others know that we will be able to work with Kamala's administration to help our nation look at how and why we lock up our citizens.
Trump will abuse his power and pardon hardcore felons who he benefits from, and execute people convicted of low-level drug possession. If he is re-elected, he already said that he will pardon all the criminals who participated in the January sixth insurrection.
The difference between Kamala and Trump is vast. Trump is an authoritarian and believes in feeding the oligarchy. Kamala believes in democracy and equality and justice for all. I believe at this stage Kamala would be the best candidate even if we had other choices. The people who like Trump are not really looking at who he is. They only focus on how entertaining he is. The people who made money when he was in office, are the multi-millionaires and billionaires, not the middle or working class. We need a leader who will do more than entertain and give the richest people and companies tax breaks. We need a leader who wants to enrich all Americans.
With a keen nose to sniff out crooks, schemers and scammers, honed by her former position as Attorney General of California where she took on the big banks, Kamala Harris is America's only and best choice in this current presidential race to keep us safe from the fraudsters not only in our communities but also those who hold public office in the Nation’s Capital and abroad.
During her time as attorney general and senator she was the first to break away from the vague and draconian "tough" on crime approach, even at the risk of ruffling political feathers on both sides of the aisle. Kamala Harris had the audacity of a progressive mindset to forge a ‘smarter on crime’ technique. There are many ‘convicts for Kamala’ who want to see her win this upcoming election, and not just for the hope of criminal justice reform.
We believe that Kamala will return a certain decorum back to the functioning of the government and usher in economic potential for all Americans. The USA is a diverse nation and Kamala's policies recognise this. Kamala’s policies and working across the aisle with Democrats and Republicans alike will bring our government together to work to bring peace to the conflicts overseas. She will stand up for us against those who seek to use us even at the risk of losing popularity.
Kamala let those who are our friends know that we have their back no matter what. And those who are our enemies who seek to undermine our way of life, know what they are up against. Kamala is not an entertainer. Kamala will not present catchy one-liners and wise cracks at her rallies. Kamala is popular and loved by us because she keeps it 100 percent real and keeps on top of the topics that impact each and every one of us, not just special interest groups or big money donors.
We want someone who is confident and poised, especially while they are negotiating big business for the country. Kamala will not be intimidated by her rivals or crack jokes with foreign leaders. Her impeccable work ethic, communication and experience as a top lawyer will always get us a good deal when she is sitting at those power tables.
Kamala can mend this country and make us strong again because she comes from where majority of us come from; the middle class. As our president she will move us forward with her policies. Kamala is a unifier. She knows our strength depends on unity. Kamala will reach out to the other side of the aisle to assure that all Americans are getting the best deal when it comes to prices, jobs, medicine, housing and health care. Her administration will be firm but fair when it comes to immigration. America is a nation of immigrants; we can never forget that.
We will maintain the freedoms in our constitution with Kamala Harris as President. She will not inject her private views or ideologies into her decision making when it comes to governing us. Kamala should be all of our choice. I know she would be my choice if I could vote because I see every day what's at stake. If she is not elected, we will not be able to move forward. Those who oppose Kamala and what she stands for want to roll back the gains and achievements we've made as a nation. It is those who oppose Kamala that would take away our hard-earned freedoms like voting rights and the right to choose.
If Kamala is not elected, America will be setback over 100 years. According to The Heritage Foundation, a Trump ally, say they would like to take us back to 1850. Kamala represents the everyday American. Her values align with many of the core values we all share no matter what culture or ethnicity. We are American and Kamala understands what it means to be an American, and she is out there fighting for us as we speak.
I want to move forward, not back. I want democracy to prevail. Kamala and her Republican allies will make this happen. This is MY2CENTZ.
